Do you have time to spare or skills to share, know your local area and like to make new friends?

Volunteer to become a CareFlight Local Champion.

What do CareFlight Local Champions do?

CareFlight Local Champions donate their time and skills to represent CareFlight in their local community. Local Champions are an important part of the CareFlight team, helping to promote CareFlight's services, raising essential donations and assisting with essential administrative tasks.

You can choose the acitivites which suit you best of get extra training to try something new:

  • Assist with CareFlight displays at community events
  • Maintain CareFlight donation tins at local businesses
  • Help recruit more local business supporters
  • Help represent CareFlight at local club, society and business groups meetings
  • Look after essential office-based administration work (selected areas only)
And choose the time commitment that suits you - from a regular day every week or month to selecting specific events to attend through the year on an ad hoc basis.
How do we support our Local Champions?

You will receive ongoing support including:

Inital orientation training - in person and online - suited to your chosen role
Ongoing support and contact with CareFlight's Community Engagement staff
A CareFlight Local Champion T-shirt, jacket (after six months) and special photo ID
Regular CareFlight newsletters and updates
CareFlight volunteer recognition awards

We are committed to providing positive experiences in a caring and safe environment, so all successful applicants will also undertake an in-person interview, reference checks, a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.


What are the benefits of being a CareFlight Local Champion?

Volunteering with CareFlight is lots of fun, you are part of a great team and it's good for your own health too!

By supporting CareFlight you will be helping save lives in your local area and across Australia - from people injured in serious accidents or suffering life-threatening medical episodes, to patients needing transport to hospital care or training first repsonders in trauma care skills. 

You will also make friends, gain new skills and experience and learn more about your local community, aviation and aeromedicine.

Helping others, giving back to your community and meeting new people are also proven to assist with keeping you healthy and happy.

What do you need to be a CareFlight Local Champion?

CareFlight volunteers are a diverse group of people with a range of backgrounds and experience. To be a volunteer you:

  • Are 18-80 years of age
  • Have access to your own motor vehicle and drivers licence (for visiting businesses and events)
  • Enjoy meeting and talking with other people
  • Have some knowledge of your local community, businesses and/or clubs and societies 
  • Are committed to CareFlight's guiding principles of service, excellence, unity and integrity
  • Have a full current vaccincation status for COVID-19. CareFlight is committed to keeping our team and the community safe


What are the volunteering options?

Donation Tins Program - Help to place, empty and maintain the donation tins hosted by supporting businesses in your local community, including cash tins and Donation Point Tap units for card donations. (Own vehicle required)

Club CareFlight - promote CareFlight's business supporter program to existing and new supporters. Help deliver special benefits to Club CareFlight members such as certificates, posters, talks to their staff and help us say thanks. 

Events - work with CareFlight staff to setup and run interactive displays and information stands at local shows, fairs, shopping centres and other community events. Meet and talk to people about CareFlight and help them get involved. 

Administration - help out in the CareFlight offices with administrative tasks such as sorting mail, updating databases, answering supporter enquiries or preparing for events. (limited locations)

Special Projects - tell us about your special skills and experience and we will look for a suitable volunteering opportunity to suit you.
